Welcome to the 2024 Virtual Forum

Mental health is an essential part of overall health and wellbeing. Recent years have seen an increase in child and adolescent mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. Many factors impact the mental health of young people including adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and exposure to trauma. As noted by Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, the Surgeon General of the United States, “If we seize this moment, step up for our children and their families in their moment of need, and lead with inclusion, kindness, and respect, we can lay the foundation for a healthier, more resilient, and fulfilled nation.”

Social workers are leaders in the efforts to address the mental health challenges of children, youth, and their families. This virtual forum will explore best practices and strategies to enhance the leadership role of social workers in this area.

Discover how social work can play a transformative role in addressing youth mental health by attending the 2024 NASW Virtual Forum which will be held on Tuesday, October 29 - Thursday October 31, 2024. The theme for this three-day virtual event is “Mental Health Matters: Working with Children, Youth, and Families.”

This engaging and informative event will bring together experts over a three-day period to share insights, address issues that affect youth, and help you navigate this space as social workers and other health providers. Keynotes, plenaries, and breakout sessions will address a wide range of topics such as suicide prevention, the implications of social media use, ethics, artificial intelligence, education policies, and much more. This will be an event you do not want to miss!
