Julie Black, MSW, LCSW-C, is Sr. Ethics and Professional Review Associate in the NASW Office of Ethics and Professional Review. She holds an MSW from Simmons University School of Social Work and a B.A. from Boston University. She is a licensed clinical social worker in Maryland with a background in providing adult outpatient mental health services across a variety of settings. She is a former member of the National Ethics Committee and former Chair/Member of the NASW MD Chapter Ethics Committee.

Joanne Hessmiller, PhD, LCSW

Joanne Hessmiller has taught social work at the bachelor, masters and doctoral levels and was on faculty with the University of North Carolina System before retirement. As a consultant and Principal of ChangeWorks, her focus has been on program development and human rights advocacy. She is a member and a previous Co-chair of the Chapter Ethics Committee for the NASW, NC Chapter, served on the PA NASW Chapter Ethics Committee as a Professional Review consultant and mediator. She is a current member of the NASW National Ethics Committee. Joanne holds a Master of Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago, a Master of Law and Social Policy from Bryn Mawr College, a doctorate in Philosophy (Social Welfare) from the University of Maryland and a Certificate in International Human Rights Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in NC.
