This session explores how social workers can leverage digital tools and data systems to enhance client wellbeing. Participants will learn strategies for identifying and mapping the digital services that impact clients’ lives—from telehealth and benefits platforms to case management technologies. Through a lens of equity and ethical practice, the session will highlight ways to address digital divides, improve service coordination, and support economic mobility in the digital age.

Tianca Crocker, PhD

Tianca Crocker is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at UNC Charlotte and an affiliate of the School of Data Science. Her research focuses on digital inclusion for economic and social opportunity. Her recent publications include a framework for balancing data privacy and social good for the AI generation of social services. She has served as a fellow with NTEN and NDIA, and earned a PhD in Social Work with a graduate portfolio in Communication, Information and Cultural Policy from UT Austin.
